Marketing Tips to Help Anyone

I read an article written by Ilise Benun, on the topic of how she interviewed John Hartwell from Hartwell Design Studio and how many designers do not know how to market their content at all.  They will have all the right designs and capabilities, but lack in the consistency of marketing. They will post a blog  every now and then, maybe follow up with past clients, she goes on to share simple ideas that will improve anyone's marketing.

1. Prospect

"The goal is to plant seeds, build awareness and instill trust over time", hartwell says regarding how he sends personalized email messages to schools he works with.  He talks about how he understands not everyone will wrote back, but at least it is showing he cares.  After the work with his client is done he still lets them know that he will stay in touch.

2.Email Newsletter

Hartwell talks about how his prospecting and adding past clients to his email list have made a positive impact. Hartwell says," I’ve added about 100 names to my list. Here’s the surprising part: Of those 100, only four have unsubscribed, which, I will admit, has blown me away. I was fully expecting up to 50%, because who the hell wants to be added to yet another email list? Yet, not only have so few unsubscribed, several have opened multiple newsletters. I’m very encouraged.” It goes to show that making an effort and doing small things will add up and show your customers that you are engaged with them

3.Podcast

He started doing podcasts about his advanced marketing content and he brought guests on to his shows and they shared the show with their network.  He says this had caused him a lot more traffic on his website and on all his social media accounts. He also said how he started getting attention from different countries to.

-This was interesting to me because it shows how doing small things like emailing or following up with your clients is important and does do a lot of good for the company. Marketing is very important and not many people understand this.  With today's world of technology customers wanted to be engaged 24/7, it is critical that they are consistent about it!
